We Have Wax

Man sometimes I wish I lived in town. Like today, I had to drive to the doctor just for him to tell me that he will take a swab of my throat and just keep doing what I am doing. He did tell me to try strepsils lozenges because they have lidocaine in them to help freeze my throat. So I did, and they really work, it lasts about hour and a half. Pretty nice!

(our last heifer and her calf, Yay)

Okay back on subject. When I went out after supper to check on them, I see Gypsy is waxing. And since it is so icky out, we moved the heifers out of the corral, and let the mares in there. Gypsy walks right through the gate and into the shed, the others had to look around at everything in there, and then eventually settled down and hid in the shed too. I left the gate open so they can go out if they want, but I expect they will stay there all night.

(hanging out in the shed watching Bailey be silly and run around)

I'm so excited, maybe tomorrow, maybe Friday, who knows, but at least we are progressing again. I dont feel to bad, a friend had her mare AI'd on May 10 and she still hasn't foaled yet. Shes almost at a year! They sure can be different, seems more are late than on time though.

(Bailey asking to come in and Belle saying "only if your quiet", lol)

May 3, 2010

I think I'm getting a cold and I'm not liking it. I keep hoping its just overtired or dehydrated or something, but its been 2 days and not getting better yet, so I guess its gonna be a cold, but hopefully that's all it will turn out to be.

I got a letter in the mail from the AQHA on Friday.

I got looking at the letter and the return address is in Sweden?? Whats with that, I thought they were in Texas? as in American, weird.

I was so excited about it and its the results from the DNA test, all they gave me was a little sticker to put on her papers, really looks like very little to spend $50 on, but I guess I can't register the foal without it, sheesh.

Oh and no foal today either, although they had me looking twice this morning. I go out there like everyday to feed the pellets, I look at Gypsy and see nothing going on yet, Then glance over at Bailey who is laying down with something behind her, well kinda weird cause she the only one not bred out there and there's a baby behind her.

She got up and I got a better look, and it was a calf born last night who escaped under the fence! Man that sure was exciting there for a while, the heifer was excited for a long time too, especially when i grabbed the calf to drag him back in the gate and her started bawling.

Oh and I got a letter from the lady I bought Dinero off of and she wanted to see how he was doing, so I sent her some pics of him and told her how everyone loves him cause hes so friendly, she seemed glad to hear that.

Pictures

Well Today I went out and got the promised pictures.

Its in the sea can, so its kinda weird. And from the front

and the saddle pads, the blue/white one is the cool back, they are awesome, never make sore backs and they don't get as hot as other pads over long periods of time.

and the box of stuff, not all are full, but most are at least half full, so I think its a pretty good deal.

And still no foal :( although it does look closer.

I heard something the other day and not sure if its true or fluke or a wives tale or whatever, but was kinda interesting. They say if a normally docile mare gets grouchy, it could be a colt, because of the extra testosterone. Not sure if its true, but all along Belle has been grouchy, and she is normally the most timid horse I have, but now she is the boss out in the mares. So kinda curious and we will have to see what she has.

Cutter!!!

Well no new foal yet, not sure when its gonna be, but getting impatient. I even went away overnight and no foal even so! I thought that would bring it on, but I guess shes not ready yet!

Friday I went to my Moms and we had another scrap booking night and I made an album for my niece's grad next Saturday. It still needs pictures of course, but I think she will like it. I also got quite a bit of my own work done as well, but I am still back in October of 2009. Guess I just have to go get more scrap booking weekends :)

Then I stayed over at my mothers and this morning was the draft horse sale in Olds and I had bought my Belgians there 4 years ago and have gone every year and I enjoy looking at whats there and usually en up with something. This year I got two saddle pads (one cool back which is awesome! and an ucky one) for $5, and a milk crate of fly sprays and show sheens and shampoo and stuff for $20. And then I thought I was done and this most beautiful cutter came through and I had to have it! I have been looking at them for along time and now I finally have one. It is totally redone and ready to go. I LOVE it.

It is still in the back of my truck so I will get pics tomorrow as we unload it in the sea can.

There were a couple horses there I coulda come home with, but I'm not ready this year, maybe next spring, and this time I will buy one totally broke double and single and hopefully to ride as well. I would like a Belgian Mare, but I'm not totally stuck on them, I would be willing to look at others if there isn't anything appropriate.

Neil was kinda upset I bought anything because he thinks we should be saving and not buy anything, but later he was okay with it and wants to go for a ride next winter. Now I just gotta get a horse ready. I think Razz would look cute pulling it, but nor sure she would make a good driving horse, kinda sensitive. Maybe Gypsy, and maybe Dinero, well have to see how he goes.
