Over at Fresh From The Farm there is a recipe swap. It sounds like a lot of fun so I thught I would join in, im sure there are lots of recipes and this way I dont have to try them all out and still get some that everyone likes. So the recipe I picked isnt really a family recipe although I have made it for my family, and its from a Companys Coming cookbook. It also isnt really a Christmas recipe although its very good and it should be :)
Its Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tbsp white sugar
4tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup hard margarine
1 cup milk
1/3 cup hard margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup currants or cut up raisens
Glaze
1/2 cup icing sugar
milk for thinning
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Cut in first amount of margarine until mixture is crumbly. Make a well in center.
Pour milk into well in flour mixture. Stir to form soft dough, adding a bit more milk if needed. Turn out onto floured surface. Knead 8-10 times. Roll out into rectangle about 1/3 inch thick and 12 inches long. Width will vary.
Cream second amount of margarine, brown sugar and cinnamon together well. Drop by teaspoonfuls in each of 12 greased muffin cups. Spread remaining cinnamon over dough rectangle. Sprinkle currants on top. Roll up as for jelly roll. Mark first, then cut, into 12 slices. Place cut side down in muffin cups. Bake in 400 degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Turn out onto tray.
Glaze: Mix icing sugar with enough milk to make barley pourable consistancy. Drizzle over cinnamon rolls. Makes 12 rolls.
This is really quick and easy! And they are fantastic!
Feel free to use any pictures you would like from my blog, but I would like recognition please!

Golden Relish
My mom is allergic to everything! from horses and cats to wheat and strawberries, tomatoes, mustard, beef, lettuce, egg yolks. Anyways she cant have most relishes because they have mustard in them, and when you cant eat ketchup or mustard, food gets kinda boring.
Well I found a recipe she says everything in it was okay, so I tried it out. And so will everyone else, cause it made 17 pints and 6 half pints. Way too much. Especially considering I don't even like relish myself.
First of the vegetables
5 pounds onions

and five pounds of cucumber and 2 celery hearts

and 3 red and 3 green peppers and 1 head of cauliflower

Chop all vegetables up and put through food grinder. I used my slap chop, but by the end I was sure wishing it had a power button!
Put vegetables in a large bowl and sprinkle with 1 cup course salt and cover with water. Cover with saran and let sit on counter overnight.

In the morning, Drain water from veggies, squish to make sure all water is gone. Then in a large pot whisk together 5 cups vinegar, 3 1/2 cups water, 1 tablespoon tumeric, 2 cups flour and 6 cups sugar.

Heat to a boil and simmer 2-3 minutes.
Add vegetables and bring to a boil. I only could make half a recipe at a time, cause I just didn't have a big enough pot.
Ladle into jars, put lids on and put in boiling water caner and boil for 10 minutes.
Remove jars from Caner and be prepared for how much it makes!
