It was kinda chaos on the day we branded here. Because of the rain I was so far behind on the deck and I kinda wanted it done for branding. Turns out the morning of branding i spent 5 hours screwing down deck boards. Neil carried all the lumber over and his dad cut and drilled starter holes for me. We got it so it was use able and had lots of compliments on it but wow I was tired by 2 and we hadn't even started branding yet. It still needs the step around the outside and one up to the door, but close enough for now.
The riders showed up not long after that and the left about 3 to go round up. I never helped again this year, too tired and they had lots of help. I came inside and started getting the meal ready and then Neil's Mom and sister showed up and they helped and the Susan and Char showed up and they helped as well. We got everything pretty well ready and so I took Susan and Char out to the corrals and we watched for a while. I only got 3 pics of our whole branding but I was so busy talking I forgot to take some, lol. We stayed a while then headed back inside to finish up the meal.
All in all it went well, everyone got lots to eat, I got a lot of visiting in and could finally relax and enjoy the deck that evening. A couple hanger oners stayed till 11 visiting but it was nice out so we visited too. I went to bed pretty well as soon as they left, I was exhausted. Good thing the branding the next day wasn't till after lunch.
Feel free to use any pictures you would like from my blog, but I would like recognition please!

Riding, Eeyore Cooler and Mares
Yesterday I went riding and took Bailey along too see if she is cured. Well not so much. She seems fine at the walk, but still super stiff at the trot, especially when turning. We felt around, and she seems a little sore in her left stifle, but not as bad as last time, and she seems worse going right, so that seems weird. I never thought about it till I got home and the other mares were pretty close, but instead of trotting to them, she loped. I notice I never see her trot outside, only lope, so maybe when it dries up I will take her outside and see if she seems okay at a lope, and maybe its just trotting that bothers her. We are gonna try and put her on a herb, not sure which one yet, Jardi is talking to the silver lining people today and from there booklet it sounds like a kidney one, but we will try what she suggests for a month and then reevaluate.
Afterwards, I had to try on her new cooler and it looks like shes in her Jammies!
I think its a little small on the neck, but I can fix that pretty easily with another Velcro piece. Sorry about the darkness, it was in the barn cause it kept blowing off in the wind.
My Aunt Bonnie asked me to make nightstands to match her pine bed, so I created them, and not turns out shes allergic to pine and so sold her bed and got a cherry one and is gonna use them as end tables. She wants to stain them to match her coffee table, so they are unfinished now.
and no foal yet, just this when I look out the window and they see me coming.
Oh and Linda and Shirley need a new guess cause theirs has past. Oh and Shirley's mare foaled a cute boy last night! Go check him out!

Happy St Paddys Day!
Okay, so I feel like I haven't been on forever! It has been so nice out and I haven't been on the computer very much because of it. Sunday and Monday I spent working in the wood shop on a set of nightstands and a plaque for door numbers for my Aunt Bonnie. I am almost done both and its nice to be back out in the wood shop. Tuesday I was on my way to lessons, and Jardi phones and said she wouldn't be there for lessons. I got there as she was about to go to the vet. I went with her and stitched up Dots ankle. Not an emergency, but it just was at a bad spot so she got it stitched. We also stopped for lunch while she woke up from the drugs.
Afterwards, Linda came just as I was gonna ride Bailey so we rode together. Her colt is very nice and quiet. It was a nice ride and we might go outside next time if Linda is brave enough and the wind isn't too bad.
I soaked Princess foot, and it looks way better and she is walking sound again. Jardi is tying her outside everyday for some sunshine and she seems to like the change of scenery.
I talked to her about lessons, cause I want to do more with Bailey than just the same old same old. It was okay with Razz cause she needed more riding and basics, but Bailey is past that now. Charlene was saying she wanted some lessons on Ricky, so I might take some with her when she gets less busy. It should be fun, Jardi said I could try the mechanical cow! That would be so much fun.
We also are gonna pound some posts around the yard so I can finally have a fence and an arbor, I'm quite excited about it. I'm not sure if I want a walk through arbor or a bench, I'm leaning towards the bench, cause I think it would be fun to sit under flowers. I would like to plant climbing yellow roses over it.
I thought its about time to worm the horses this spring, and I usually do that the same day the farrier comes, so I called him and hes coming Monday, so that's the big day, I decided I should get a good look at everyone's feet and they all look pretty good for not being trimmed since end of October, the only one who look like he needs his feet done is Dinero, and they are really not that bad.
I am also looking at getting anew trailer, mine is old and wearing out, I have two in mind, so I should be able to get one of them. I am looking at a three horse with tack room, that's all I'm specific about. Oh and it can be pulled by my half-ton.
I hope everyone is wearing green today or here's a "pinch" for those who aren't.
