Wow 2019

Where has the year gone, I cant believe my last post was a year ago!  And so much happened last year too.  Lets see if I can make a short summery.

Horses.  Didn't sell any, had 2 new ones born, Dixon out of Jess and Watson out of Nita. Unfortunately Watson died at a month old from I don't know what.  That was sad, I was really excited for my Hezgonnabefamous horse.  But I still got my cutter to be and since I had no one to wean him with ended up with another colt, ranch bred, a 3/4 brother to a colt I raised in 2010, Jamaica.  He is such a nice horse, so confident and comfortable in himself its just odd but I love it.  He will be a good fit in around here too, since my other 2 ranch horses are 13 and 14 now, I dunno how that happened.
(Dixon the day after he was born)

(Watson, a couple days old)

(Huck, the day he was halter broke,
after he was caught he acted like it was old hat and the kids loved him)

Rode very little, 10 maybe 12 times this year because of my back and my knee.  Not impressed with that but I am working my way back up this year.

Making some decisions on what to do with Easy, was planning on showing this summer but with my back the way it is I'm not sure I can and talked to my trainer today and he asked if I wanted to sell him, I never even thought of it but it would kinda make sense and he said he could probly sell him for what I paid without anyone even trying hom.  tempting, I really like him but since I cant haul him alone or ride out on him if I cant cut he would be an arena horse and I do not need that, I can ride any of my other horses in an arena if i wanted.  So now to decide what to do.  It would be nice to save that for Dixon's training but it would be nice to show and get some experience doing that too.  Of course if I do get better there will always be more horses for sale.

Crochet-- Well since I didn't do much horse stuff this year I did a lot of crochet.  I am really enjoying it and even getting a few orders in, that's great, I can pay for my hobby :)
(Neil's blanket)

Travel--We headed to Mazatlan in March for a relatives wedding that was so cool, I had a great time, trying to talk Neil into going again this year but its not happened yet, he wants Vegas, Id rather a beach but if that's the only option i will take it.
(from our balcony)

Painting-- I have continued with paint class am really enjoying it, and I made a good picture finally!  not a decent one but its actually good, and weirdly it was a spur of the moment picture to do.
(the red truck)

More Horses--Got a chance to go photo wild horses with a friend, that was really cool they were quite calm and stuck around a long time, kinda boring no play going on but that's OK it was still pretty cool.  Id like to go again in the spring time maybe.
(they got spooked and run in a big circle and were coming towards us)

Have a lot of plans for this year too, so excited for it to get going, said as I sit in bed with a sore back, ugh.  But Chiro tomorrow and hopefully onwards and upwards from there.

Equine First Aid

Last Thursday we had our last Therapeutic Riding night and since it was close to halloween we had a dress up and trick or treat night.  I dressed like a unicorn and it was fun, so many cool costumes!
(I did my nails in unicorn colors too)

(Our superhorse Ashley)

(The group with our rider
who was pouting cause we wanted a smile
and his dad in too)

(The whole 6:00 group)

Then Friday I loaded up and headed to Saskatoon to Lisa's and she was hosting an Equine First aid course.  It was really cool. Some I had known about but lots of new things as well.  And good practice bandaging again as it has been a long time since I have had an injury here.  Well more than a just a few stitches or a rest/time off injury.
(We were given a bunch of scenarios and we had to deal with them as we thought was best.
Poor Lefta had a lot of injuries in one day)

(and we wrapped a donut for an eye injury)

(our other victim, lol)

(The instructor showing a stretch I think)

(A hoof abscess and a mid leg wrap with expansion joint)

(Yay we all graduated )

I tried to take some photos of touristy places but its winter and stuff was closed or hard to get to, except the dump oops I turned too soon, and they have cows in the middle of town :)  Of course its a vet college but still cool.
(the nice hotel room, seemed a bit fancy but I'd sure stay there again)

(Pike Lake....obviously lol)

(they were working up the sand)

(and sign on the highway said point of interest.....not sure what it was)

It was cool meeting Lisa too although we didn't get a lot of time to spend together since its not that far we may try to meet up next summer again.

To The Mountains

So we had planned a blogger ride out to my place this summer but with all the rain we had mosquitoes coming out of our ears.  Or maybe going in they were sooo terrible!  So instead I decided to go to Janice's while no one could decide what else to do.  I couldn't get a hold of my farrier as I wanted to take Jess but she needs shoes before we can go.  So instead I took Razz cause her feet are a little harder.  I left Friday and had looked and there was a bit of construction but not bad.  I was stopped about half hour in 2 different spots.  So I ate and took pictures, what else am I to do?
(fueling up in Pincher Creek)

(neat looking mountains)

(and a river, not sure which one, by Fernie somewhere)

Got there and got Razz all settled and we visited.  I don't know what it is about us but we seem to be behind all the time because we cant stop visiting.  So we never ended up going out riding that night but the next morning had plans to ride to the lake.  Pretty spot in there and there is some cows too :)  Of course as we got trailered to the spot I realized I had forgotten my boots.   But oh well I rode in my bright pink runners, sure not ideal but it worked.
(at the trailhead with my runners on)

(Razz is so cute!  And swat on her ears lol)

(I like the open trails)

Janices regular riding friend came along and so that was fun too.  Always nice to ride with people who have good horses.  And she knew some trails too so that was good.  We rode the lake again on Sunday but took a different route.
(Laughing at something while resting and letting the horses graze)

(cool trail up and down that no one wanted to take)

(just riding :) )

(we got back and Janice's dog jumped in the trailer and wouldn't get out, goofball.)

Monday Shirley came out and we went out to some ranch road....I would totally get lost out there lol I wasn't paying much attention to direction even when I drove I just did as I was told.  It was a longer day and it was sure hot, we shoulda started earlier but was sure beautiful out there so it was worth it.
(Shirley brought bandannas for us all so I wore mine on my head)

(Pretty scenery we needed a group picture)

(and another one, almost all matching)

(me by a cool sign)

(really pretty up at the top)

(over my shoulder view)

Then on Tuesday Razz had a bit of a cinch sore and I didn't want to ride her and make it worse so Colleen let me borrow her little horse.  He was perfect.  Hes for sale but before that shes going on a big trip with him and wants him in shape and so it worked well for both of us.  He was even short :)   We did the lake again and Janice rode Jazz and she was so good....and pretty.
(Me and Cisco, he looks good in pink lol)

(hanging out in the back)

(I loved this trail in the trees)

(pretty boy)

Headed home on Wednesday and had a wonderful trip so glad I went out there but was exhausting I need a day of rest lol.

August at our Place

Been busy here still, summer is just that way, I get doing so much and forget to blog it all.  Of course I have hardly rode at all since July since the bugs have been so bad, have never seen so many mosquitoes in my whole life as I have this summer, the horses and cows (and me) are just miserable.  So I been spending my time inside doing stuff and its worked well the last 2 weeks with the Olympics on, it gave me an excuse to stay inside.

I been canning away, its a lot nicer to can when we have air conditioning, doesn't matter the outside temp its still decent in here.  First my Mom and Clint come out and they brought peaches and so we made peach jam, salsa and canned some as fruit.  Then I picked chokecherries and made syrup and I have 0 crapabbles on my tree and so I posted I was looking for fruit on Facebook and I got a message from a nice lady who has a bunch of fruit in her yard they just want picked cause they don't use it.  That was perfect, pears, plums and cherries.  There was a couple apples but they had hail a few weeks ago and it pretty well ruined them.  It it the other fruit but not as bad.  So I got a bunch from her and made cherries and cherry jelly so far, the plums are almost ripe now and the pears not sure.  I might go back in a couple weeks and pick some more ripe ones.
(Cherries and cherry jelly)

(plums and pears)

While my mom was out we took a side tour to Dinosaur Park, I have never been there and so we did, it was pretty cool, sure is a view up top there.  of course my Mom was most interested in John Wares Cabin cause its log.  But the mosquitoes were out pretty bad there too which was too bad.  Then we headed to Patricia for supper and it was really good, even though we were not that hungry.
(my mom, we were bored Clint got lost lol)

(Clint and Neil taking one of many paths)

(haha I made Neil turn around under the dinosaur)

(Neil at the edge of a cliff)

(Clint over a undercut spot)

(John Ware's Cabin)

(cooking at the Patricia Steak Pit)

We had a stagette for the neighbor girl and we went floating down the river, I was pretty hesitant to go cause I never have and she borrowed me her kayak and it was so fun!  After a day there I thought I could be in the Olympics.....well at least I'd like to do it again, it was fun but I'm probly not that good.

We also worked the casino for the Ag Society and while we were in Medicine Hat we stopped at the Teepee and got some pics, I had never stopped there just seen it on the way by but its on my list and now its checked off.  They also said there was a giant moose in front of the Moose Lodge but they musta moved it or tore it down cause we sure couldn't find it.
(the big Teepee)

(it really is BIG!!)

And yesterday we headed to Fort Macleod to watch Neil's cousin and his daughter participate in a triathlon, they were so awesome!  It kinda made me wanna do it.  My swimming isnt that strong but I think if I swim over the winter a bit I could improve enough.  Last winter they had drop in swimming lessons and I might do a few of those as well.  Be funner if I could find someone to go with me tho.

And while we were there went to Lethbridge to visit and shop, and see the giant Wind Gauge, which is funny cause there wasn't even a tiny breeze that day and we coulda used one it was hot!  Then on to Taber which has the giant Corn and Lady.

(the carnival musta been travelling somewhere, I wanted to join in)

And now off on another adventure this week :)
