Father's Day 2012

Usually for Father's Day we have a BBQ of some sort and just an informal family get together.  It was kinda cold yesterday so we decided to all meet in Strathmore and just have dinner there.  We picked the Station Restaurant cause its big and prices are reasonable.  Me and Neil went early cause he wanted to stop at Canadian Tire to get some tire fixing stuff and while we were in the parking lot we saw a truck with a camper and it had a big dent in the side and they had a band-aid on it, it was funny.

My sister bought a waterproof camera for our vacation and I meant to as well, but I hadn't yet, and she phoned me and said she saw the one she got but in pink and asked if I would buy the blue one off her.  Since it was the camera I was gonna get anyways I agreed and she brought it for me yesterday too.  I have been looking for a while for a camera that was smaller I could take around easier as well and I think this one will do.  It is waterproof, freeze proof, dust proof and shockproof.  So pretty well indestructible I think.

My Mom had not been to the Station before and its a pretty cool restaurant with all kinds of old train stuff and so we took a look around the place and took some pics of stuff in there.  It's hard to tell, but the buggy is hanging from the roof.

I had the Stationmaster burger and it was delicious, but a 1/2 pound burger is way too much!  But I ate it and gave the fries away.  The special was pulled pork, but I planned on making it next Sunday  so figured didn't want it 2 weeks in a row.  We gave out cards and gifts and stuff and I gave all gift cards this year cause I know everyone will use them.  I prefer a real gift, but I just had no idea what to get this year.

Afterwards my Grampa, my Mom, my sister, and her oldest boy got in the 4 generation picture in front of the painting on the building and then in front of the caboose in the parking lot.

My nephews also had so get their pic with my sisters boyfriend there, even if for some reason I can't make it rotate which kinda makes me angry cause its rotated on the computer where it's saved..  And one with their Grampa.

And then my sister was being silly and laid on the tracks like she was gonna be run over, lol

It was a fun day even if it was just a quick visit and meal.

Heritage Park-- The Train

My favorite part of Heritage Park is the train that goes around the park.  I love it, mostly the only reason I would like to go to the park is to ride the train.

We took the train last thing we did and afterwards me and Neil stood at the windmill waiting and waiting for the train to come around the corner so I could get a picture of it.

I love the steam it looks so neat while they are driving and then they stop and the steam comes out from underneath.  There are only three stops on the train, which is weird cause I thought there was four when I was a kid, but I can't see where the other one would have been.

And of course they have old cars that we could look in and some of the rooms are pretty plain

And some are pretty nice, sure wouldn't mind spending a week in some of these rooms.

This one train had a shower and in the shower there was a toilet, thought that was kinda weird but I guess it doesn't matter if the toilet get wet.

Its so neat to see the different way people traveled back then.  When I was younger my great grandparents took me and my sister on the train to Vancouver.  We had so much fun but when i think back, I sure can't imagine them doing that!  It woulda been a lot of work watching us and following us around.
