Cold and Info

The last few days have been cold again!  I am so sick of winter but if (and that's a big if) we can believe the weather people after Sunday it is going to warm up for the next two weeks. I sure hope they are right cause it has been to cold to do much around here.

I went and rode Tom and Razz on Tuesday and yesterday braved the weather and rode Razz.  Charlene called and said it was -13 so we went and when we got there it was -17!  but since we were there we rode anyways, it wasn't too bad while we were riding but afterwards it sure was cold!!!

I skipped out today and am hoping it will get nicer and go riding again tomorrow.  I am entered in a cow horse clinic on March 12 and 13, so I have to keep riding so we are both in shape for that.  We also looked at a cutting clinic the weekend afterwards but need to find out more about it because even though it is for beginners, we aren't sure if our horses need to be better than ours are.

I also have a question for you guys out there.  The Canadian Supreme is trying to get more people to go to watch, and they are starting with the 4H clubs and want to get some well known trainer/clinician to come up and give some talk or info and were wondering who to get.  They are trying to stay away from John Lyons/Parelli natural horsemanship types but want someone who everyone would want to see.  They are also trying to stay away from the Canadian trainers, cause they will all be competing there.

I'm done with winter too and will take spring anytime soon. I can't think of anyone to suggest........but then I'm so far behind the times it's not funny.

Tim McQuay! Stacey Westfall! Bob Avila! Duane Latimer! Ted Robinson! There's lots of great horsemen and women out there. You're brave to be riding at -17C.

Oh, I say go to the cutting clinic. Obviously I had a lot of fun at mine and picked up a lot of much needed info.

Yep-I'm done with winter too. I promise I won't complain about how hot the summer is until at least August. ;-)

I sure agree with you! I am tired of the winter snow and cold! I am unfortunately as far as others are concerned a Parelli person, so I don't know of anyone and I am not all that familiar with other ones around here at all. I am pretty much a person that sticks to herself and don't have anyone close that I ride with or can ride with. I do my own thing. I am going to a clinc in April though, the first one that I have ever been too! Ought to be interesting!

Crystal, Yes I can take orders on colors and you can let the design up to me or if you want you can give me an idea but I am just learning on how to do specific designs for this type of yarn and I have only done one that is on my header and that was for JB in Dakota, he was my ginny pig for my first blanket. The one I am doing now is one that I think is better and I am working on getting books that will give me other ideas for designs and hopefully can make different designs, or I should say for now colors are what is easy for me to come up with for now. My first blanket he liked red and blue and he wasn't concerned on the design and I added the white and black myself but if someone wanted just the particular colors I would not add any other color unless I asked first. What I am trying to say is that I am new to weaving saddle blankets.

For me I've been to all kinds of clinics from breed ones to those at horse expos etc. I've seen lots of them, Lyons, Rashid, Roberts, Shrake and on and on but you know who I would love to see besides Stacy Westfall, because I would go see her too in a heart beat, would be that guy from the reining team for the US at the World Equestrian Games, Shawn Flarida. That horse he rode was the softest, roundest most amazing reining horse I ever saw in my life. I can still see that horse backing in my minds eye. It was the most amazing back I have ever seen on a horse and obviously it wasn't just the back. But that is the thing we ask them to do that is not natural to them and he had that horse so round, it was poetry in motion. I've never seen anything even close. He made it look easy and natural not to mention breath taking.

I was so bummed when he had an equipment failure (broke a blevin buckle so lost his stirrup) in the individual finals. I have looked at his website and seen clips of his training and his other horses are soft too. Amazing wonderfully soft, I am telling you if I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd be on the phone trying to bribe the man to take one of my Arabians in training and sending my horses to trainers anymore is not my thing. If he ever gets anywhere near me at a clinic, I will be there!!!

Sounds like you have been working hard and having fun, even in the cold. I'm such a wuss when it comes to riding in weather. lol!

I just went to a Dennis Reis clinic on Saturday. Was pretty good and learning quite a bit, but I don't know if he travels to Canada. Besides, his tour schedule looks might full right now.

Do they need a farrier type clinic, cause Ian would do one of those for them.
