Well I guess this week being gone so much I am so confused about what day it is and I thought yesterday was Sunday till after lunch sometime when Neil asked if I want to go to breakfast in East Coulee which is always on the last Sunday of the month.
But that's OK, I would rather be a day ahead than a day behind, which it feels like I always am. But it was so worth it to take time off to watch the Supreme every year. It is always the best of the best competing there and so good. we watched a lot of the cutting and a little of the fence work for cowhorse. So much fun watching and getting into it, the crowd is so fun to be around when they get excited.
We didnt stay for the horse sale which is probly a good thing, I don't need any more horses there and if I was looking for a young performance horse unlikely I would buy at a sale anyways. So that was nice and we got home a little earlier that way. I kinda woulda liked to stay for Saturday and all the finals but that was a pretty long week already but maybe next year.
So after breakfast we headed to Drum for a few items we needed and then back home again and I hope to get all my bricks tore out this afternoon so I can get Neil to help me put in the posts for the deck I have been so slow on building. But as long as the posts are in I can still work on it in the winter if its warm enough out then have it ready for next summer rather than having it all wrecked for weeks during the summer.
So I guess life goes back to normal for a while, I still do plan on going and watching the cutting in Calgary, which is October 10-14th, and we have a couple community trail rides coming up and still wanna work with Jazz and so hopefully I have a little time left before it really gets to be winter. And I looked up the winter series which doesn't start till Dec 29 which makes me sad I thought it started end of October, and I want to go to them even though I am sure I miss at least one when we are away on vacation in Feb.
Feel free to use any pictures you would like from my blog, but I would like recognition please!

Sunday Stills -- Signs of September (fall)
This week we are to show what September looks like in our part of the world. Well where I live in Finnegan, Alberta it is fall and the weather has been beautiful this fall with temp of about 25*C in the day time. It is much warmer than usual but I do not mind :)
Our leaves are starting to turn, but there is much more green left around here and I hope it stays a while we have so many months of no leaves I wanna keep them as long as I can.

Running
I been thinking lately that I haven't done much for exercise. I was so good in the winter with doing some sort of program all the time, but since it got warm out I haven't done much. Sure I have been doing more stuff outside, but no real formal type exersize and it is definitely time to get into that again. So I been thinking I should start running. I hate running. But since we have a nice road to run on and I have all the equipment (runners) then it should be what I start doing and maybe I would like it.
(our orphan calf who lives with the horses)
Well last night I was feeling pretty sore, my back is out somethin bad and my chiro is not in until Tuesday. And I have always had a sore knee, but whatever might as well start running, it cant be any worse right??? Well it really wasn't, I forgot the reason I hate running is not cause it hurts me, but I can't breathe. I don't know why my lungs are so weak like that, but like 30 seconds into the run I thought I was gonna collapse. But I kept pushing myself to jog for a minute then I planned to walk for a minute. All the way to the first Texas gate (about 1/2 mile). I should have know better and just walked a minute and jogged 30 seconds to start. My goal eventually is to be able to jog to the Texas gate without having to stop. I am hoping it happens before it gets too cold to jog cause in cold weather my lungs hurt even more, sometimes just breathing. I wonder if there is something wrong with them or I am just out of shape, I am leaning towards the latter.
(ponies were pretty curious as to what I was doing
running down the road in the dark, lol)
I almost left too late to go cause it got pretty mosquitoey when I got in the shade and by the time I got back (about 20 mins) it was dark out. But that's OK cause I got to see the sun go down and I didn't completely die, only partly, but I plan on trying it again today, maybe a little earlier. But I was unprepared for summer to be over so fast, that was only 8:30 :((( And this morning it was 6*C when I got up, way too cold for me to venture out in, almost toque weather.

Fall Work
Well its getting that time of year again when we gotta get ready for winter. We been doing that for a while now, but the weather is so nice its hard to believe its the 18th of October already! We are planning on weaning our calves on Sunday for the Monday sale, so its all coming quickly. Neil has been working on fixing the fences in the corral and the calf feeders. Pretty well done there. I still need to check fences in the winter pasture for my horses and wean Casino.
We have done some work around the yard as well, we pulled the front step and filled underneath it cause we thought the mice were getting in there, but couldn't see any holes so I guess we gotta keep looking.
We also filled dirt on the North side of the house to keep creatures out and snow from melting towards house. Last winter had so much snow it kinda made a mess of stuff and we are hoping it won't happen again this winter.
Since our beef should be coming home this week, I have cleaned out and defrosted the freezer. Amazing how much junk is in there from many years ago. I threw out a lot of old food. Kinda sad, I am hoping to keep up a little better with the upright than the chest freezer we had before.
I also have cleaned out the laundry room and mopped everything and now its all sitting in the hallway and I don't want it to go back in there, but since we are having people here for supper Sunday I best get it all done. I have thrown out at least one giant garbage bag from in there, and there will be more to go. Some of this stuff is so old and has been here since before me and not looked at, so its gonna go.

Fall Is On The Way
Yesterday I went riding the boy. We, no I, decided we should ride outside cause inside is boring and its getting cooler out so better take advantage of all the outside I can get. He was actually really good, i wasn't sure how he'd be by ourselves, but other than trying to eat the grass he was just fine. Even the noisy neighbor came by as we were walking on the side of the road and we turned to face her and she slowed down and he was okay with that, a little wiggly, but still good.
On My way home, I noticed how much closer we are getting to fall, I don't want to think its fall yet, but Dinero sure has a lot of winter hair. Here he is hanging out with Billy, and you cant see his winter hair very much, its mostly on his belly.
I also was trying to get some pictures for Rochelle of her foal for registration, and i keep feeling something behind me, and i turn around and this is what I see, Silly Pedro.
As I was driving home, I could see the changes in crops as well. The wheat was just turning.
The canola was still green but was being swathed.
The barley has mostly ripened, just the weeds were green.
The stubble fields have even been cultivated.
At our house, the oats were planted a month later, and they are still green, but pretty close to being ready to cut for green feed.
Even the prairie grasses, over in Dalum
And here at home have turned pretty much yellow, with little bits of green mixed in. (Mostly the sage is the only greenish thing around)
