Hes Home!

Last week after Bailey left I went for a lesson.  Was really good, lots of people there though but that's OK.  Doug asked if I was gonna come the next day I said I planned on it and he asked if I would bring my trailer and take him home and to the show since his trailer was full.  So no problem I was going to bring him home from the show anyways might as well.  So Friday I brought the trailer and then had another good lesson, I worked a couple cows then he worked him on the flag a bit.  It was neat to see him work Easy since I never get to.  Took him home put him in the big pen next to Pally and Trio and fed and was done for the night, I was tired and we had a show in the morning.

(watching me)

(how cute, sniffing noses,
wasn't any squealing or anything I was surprised)

Woke up the next morning to a gale!  I never slept real good cause wind all night and was sure there was gonna be snow on the ground, but nope was actually +8 when I got up that was weird.  So did chores and got everything organized and then went to get Easy.  Neil was gonna help me cause that wind was so nasty wasn't sure of the trailer door.  I walked to the gate with his halter and he come running to me!  Probly wanted back in the barn.....sorry bud no barn here.  But was cool.  Then he did not want to load.  Took about 5 tries and he finally got in, but was screaming the whole time.  Ugh sure hoped it was only the wind. Cause I know he's been loaded a million times before.

Got to the show and miserable there too.  Still screaming in the trailer so I unloaded him and tied him to the side of the trailer with a hay bag and went inside to see what was going on.  I was way early they had just finished the open and were settling for non pro.  Still had 4 herds before mine.  Oh well got to see a bunch of the other barnies show and so that was cool.  Easy was still having a fit at the trailer 2 hours later so I finally saddled him up and brought him inside and tied him to the wall and he had a nap.  Turns out he never has been by himself before, not in the trailer or anywhere really, always had other horses around.  Might have to start hauling the pony with him everywhere we go, hell be like a racehorse haha.

But then he was warmed up nicely and I got on and rode him a bit just to see how he felt and then it was our turn.  I was last in the herd of course (again) and so just got whatever cows were left.   First one was a black and she run wall to wall.  I was pretty happy with it, I made it to the wall a few times, coulda been a little farther a couple times but I have a hard time getting him to go to the wall going left so that was big.

The second cow was much turnier was fun!  We stayed on her and she was a good cow.  Then only a little time left and I got another one cut out, that was hard but I liked my herd work on it and got a turn and the buzzer rang and so I made one more turn and we quit.    Super happy with that run and it earned me a 71!!!!  Best score I have ever had, won the class, not that it matters cause next time I will be smarter and enter the non pro so I can go earlier at least at central shows.
(I let him graze while I unsaddled and brushed him out,
he dried so quick cause of the wind)

Came home, he loaded a little better, still hesitant but at home he went right to see his friends in the next pen and then was just quiet.  Bad day to bring him home with all that wind hes not used to.  But I feel a huge relief that even though he can have a fit and be so upset he still can show like its no big deal.  I love that.  And now 2 days later hes just hangs out, not even by the others all the time, i am gonna put Pally in with him soon and they can be buddies.  Hes had 2 days off and today will be back to work.  I was told I have to ride him everyday to keep him in shape.  I will probly go for a lesson tomorrow and see whats going on.  Im not showing this weekend so no rush for lessons for me.

Sunday Stills -- Home

Well Linda over at Just Another Day on The Prairie has started up a Sunday Stills again, and I am glad, give me a reason to take pictures :)  Even though I only have my old phone it works well enough, especially for outside pictures.  This weeks challenge was home and I took all my pics today with the frost and the sun shining.  Sure makes it look pretty with frost, even when its cold.

(Front view, including the lawn)

(My other home, the arena)

(I love our driveway)

(Frost was super thick)

(But so pretty against the blue sky)

(Our tree with the hawks nest in)

(the whole yard from the driveway)

(and getting closer can see the house)

Got a couple here that were not home really but they are cool so got included :)

Rainy Day Project

It was rainy on Tuesday and so I figured the perfect day to get an indoor project done.  I have lots of projects to do and don't wanna waste my summer days inside so this woulda waited till a cold day (or winter) but rain and cool are a good excuse too.

My closet in the bedroom is only 3 feet wide, pretty tiny.  For that reason (and we have a spare room and no kids) all my long dresses and pants I don't wear often and most of Neil's hanging up clothes are in the other closet.  But still was overcrowded and I have so much other than hanging stuff I wanted to put away too.

I been looking at closet organizers and most are for 5-8 feet, well that's no good so I was thinking I would just make my own, just buy the wire shelves in bulk and put them where I want them to be.  But when shopping with my sister I seen one for 3-5 feet closets!  I so was on that and bought it :)

I have to take a break and say I hate my house, Neil's dad and grampa "fixed" it up and neither is a carpenter good, bad or otherwise and so there are a lot of things in this house I just cant stand.  I am of the mindset that if you don't know how to do it, either find out or get help (or someone who knows how)  There is so much just patched together stuff its annoying trying to do anything else.  I figure if you do it right the first time you are better off.  And no I don't think it gives it character as some would say its just wrong and this is not the first time its caused problems.

Because of the crazy way stuff was done it was a lot harder putting together than the box had said, it woulda been nice if the back wall of the closet didn't have boards sticking out so I had to use the other closet shelves and make a solid back.  I should spent a couple days and just dry walled it all and made it right but I had a closet-full of stuff on the bed cause I didn't realize it was gonna be so bad till I took it apart.

But after pretty much a full day I have a new closet, reorganized the way I like so far, I'm sure a few things will be moved around and stuff but so neat and tidy!  Yay.  The bottom shelf isnt put totally in cause I used a wall support where just a mid support shoulda been used so now I need one more wall support, but no big deal I will pick one up next time I am in town.

Although it still looks crowded compared to the box picture.  I dunno where they get these closets, obviously not real.  Mine is the same except the long hanging part on the side was 2 feet so I just got rid of that part.

Finally Home Again

We had Saturday left and we had a few things we wanted to get done and then get packed because we had to leave early in the morning on Sunday.  There was so much we did and took pics of I didn't get a chance to share so thought I would.  Like lots more pool time.

And Palm trees.  And pretty flowers and pretty flowered trees everywhere. And cactus for fences.

And the U-turn signs which apparently is quite common and strange for us, but handy as we used them many times.  And the McDonald's flag.

And the Rose Garden right next to the desert plants in San Diego.  With cactus plants like we have here (even blooming like ours) but MUCH MUCH bigger.

And the science Center we went to after the rose garden.

I tried to get my sister to get a few pics of the dry grass there cause Neil always thinks its green there and I tried to explain it was the dry season and if not watered it is brown.

And a pic of the interstate, it sure was weird to come home Sunday night and drive for an hour and a half and only see one vehicle.  I liked it.

And the legowood sign was kinda neat, as was the weird Buffalo bushes.

We saw a couple cool buildings, like a cube as well as a weird I dont know building.

Then at Universal we saw a horse jumping through a wall and the really cool escalators.  Oh and the Kwik-E-Mart :))

So much weird stuff around, like the horses we drove by one day while we were lost.

But am sure glad to be back home, even though it was a wonderful time in a great place, more so liked San Diego to LA.  The night we got back, we got to Calgary at 6 (on time) and it was pouring buckets and since we were in such a litte plane we thought it was tarmac deplaning, but luckily someone got us a terminal that went to the ground.  But there was a lightning storm and they closed the airport right after we got there and so we spent 2 hours sitting in baggage claim waiting for it to be safe for them to unload our bags.  But the nice airport people brought us chips and water while we were waiting, but coffee woulda been preffered cause it was freezing in there.  I got a few cool things and a bunch of clothes (and some gifts which arent pictured)

And I guess life goes on as normal here as on Monday the guys from John Deere come and loaded up our one tractor cause it quit on Neil as he was driving the swather home.  And behind it you cant see is the baler who is getting a new roller put on.

And my grass is like a jungle, Neil said he run out of time or he woulda mowed it, but that's OK I think I am way pickier than he is and would probly have to do it again anyways.  Guess I wont be bored for a while after I catch up on my sleep and get used to all this humidity.
