Well its been a whole but my computer quit on me and I can't blog on my phone too tiny. Been a lot going on, my sisters wedding, got my 2 nephews out for the summer to help us here, went to another clinic with Razz, a family reunion, and both my mares are bred and back home again.
(I have wanted a gate up North so I can ride through it,
it works well I took Jess on a ride to try it).
(Picking berries, we had a lot of saskatoons and even more choke cherries)
(Tristan and Neil pounding posts in our bull field)
(Neil saw this Tardis in Drum so we had to get a closer look and a pic)
(the hall at the family reunion)
(the family crest)
(a cool but not cool smokey sun)
(one of my favorite flowers in the garden)
(Trying to get pics of Easy as AQHA has lost his papers
and he was not always cooperative)
(and a poor pic of a Piping Plover in the creek)
I got a lot of projects on the go as well, and some we got done already, sure handy having another pair of hands around to get stuff done. I will need to do a special post on the wedding and the clinic and what else is going on with ponies as well.
My sisters 2 boys came out for a visit for a couple weeks. They enjoy coming out cause its so different that Calgary city life. And she was going to Newfoundland for a couple weeks and didn't want them to stay home by themselves that long. We always try to have a couple jobs for them to do out here so they can help us and learn something and there are jobs an extra hand is nice.
(Jaret was making a Mii and said he didn't have
pokey hair so I made him some)
(Tristan watching movies with his headphones on and laughing)
(so peaceful while sleeping)
(Jaret helping make salad)
(Going through the bush to pick berries)
(More unfencing with Neil)
(Boys climbing the hoodoos)
(way up, not sure how to get down)
(and setting up the tent after camping cause it was put away wet)
They came on the 10th wich was awkward as I was packing up to leave and left on the 15th so before then we never got a lot done, Neil had a few things for them to help him with. Including taking them up to our place at Stettler to do a bunch of fencing. They stayed up there for 3 days camping in the rain. Then he dropped them off at my Moms for a couple days and then picked them up and then I got home on the 24th. Neil went to work at the casino on the 25th/26th and they were supposed to go home that weekend but they wanted to stay so stay they did. We got them shingling and painting, fencing, checking cows, berry picking and mowing the grass.
(going to pick up pipe they straightened)
(Carrying it over...its heavy)
(and putting it up, never got done we need new clamps)
(Jaret came to Cowboy practice with me and rode Jessie)
(Tristan shingling)
(Neil helping Jaret)
(Neil carrying a bundle of shingles up)
(almost done)
(Painting the barn door)
They went home the 31st and then we headed up to my Moms for the day and Neil went golfing with Clint and me and my Mom visited. It was good. They want to come back and so maybe they will after the 10th and they have an orthodontist appointment in Aug so I guess they gotta get that done too. I got more jobs already planned for them ;)
So I am entered in 2 clinics so far this summer. First is coming up next weekend and is a colt starting clinic and I am taking my new horse Chili. She is coming around nicely but I still feel super unprepared to go to the clinic. I might ask if he can keep her for a month afterwards if he has space. I am kinda nervous about going I feel so far behind with her not at all what I had planned. But that's how it goes with horses sometimes. I got to do another post on her but Im still working on it.
And the later this summer I am going to that Buck Branaman Clinic and am taking Razz. I woulda liked to take Chili but she will not be ready for such a long trip yet since she has only been in a trailer once so far. That will change of course but I don't wanna push her...and seeing how she doesn't settle in new places very quickly yet that could be a challenge I am not ready for, I wanna learn while there. I am super excited about taking Razz there as well. I like her I really do but I can see some holes and hopefully he can help me with them.
y nephews are supposed to come out from the 10-24th but I am leaving for the clinic on the 15th so they wont be here the whole time just the beginning and then I may get them to come out again in August for a week or so when I will be home again. Also that week is a Doug Mills Clinic which would be fun but too busy...wish everything wasnt the same week. On the 22/23 is the grazing clinic for ladies and its in Dinosaur Provincial park, Id really like to go but itll be the say after I get home and Ill be super tired I think.....Im still undecided on that one.
There is also one in June an actha clinic I would like to go to but I am not entered yet as its right in the middle of branding season and we have nothing booked that day so far but things could change. It sounds neat its an actha challenge day on the Saturday and the Sunday is a fun schooling show.
So I'm better than yesterday, day is grey outside so here I am inside trying to do indoor stuff until the sun comes out...or it snows but I'm hoping sun.
Since my big (real) camera quit me at Christmas I was stuck with my underwater camera and my phone for vacation. I was pretty stressed but for this vacation it was not bad. I never used the underwater one cause I only went swimming in the pool by myself and I am not taking underwater pics of my self. And since I always had my phone with me I could take pics whenever I wanted.
(Little League Parade, Love the name of this team )
(the pier)
(hockey game against the Penguins. I didn't say anything there but boy can
Sidney Crosby handle a puck well, was kinda cool to see him. This
confused me cause Kings were in Vintage uniforms of yellow and purple)
The shark from us standing on the pier)
(Everyone loves the Kings there, even the bakery made cookies with their logo on)
(Watching the ocean)
(toes in the sand :) )
(And wrote in sand I'm not very good at that)
(hard to tell but in the very middle is a hummingbird)
(Maybe easier to see in the video)
(The hill from the beach to our hotel)
(and looking down hill)
(Where we stayed)
(Me and Chris having breakfast)
(and another outdoor meal, we ate every meal outside there was super fun)
Had a great time, would definitely go back. Was told that its quite expensive to live there (and we looked at some rel estate and I believe I will never be able to afford it) But there is a lot of professional sports players in that area. And supposedly Manhattan Beach is an older crowd, the beach is closed at 11 and there is no alcohol on it. But we went down to Rodondo Beach (a little ways south) and its a lot younger crowd, totally different. We were gonna go up to Marina Del Ray but we ran out of time, I think that woulda been cool just cause of the George Strait Song.
I didn't notice much smog there, that was nice but we hardly went into the "city" part. We did go to Target one day and another day to the game but that's about it.
I guess our last full moon was a super moon, I didnt know that but it was big and pretty close. I really like the moon and so I went out the night before it was full and got a few good ones, can hardly tell it wasnt full.
The next night I was a little sooner to get out and saw it a little lower. I tried to get it over the shed and I did, it was kinda cool.
Never did go riding under it, but next month maybe, it was super hot out and I went after I took these pics but it started clouding up.
I have been a bad blogger this summer, so much going on and I tried to post lots but seemed as though it never happened as much as I wanted. So here is a quick roundup of all I did this summer.
(We had the junk haulers here and they hauled away our old combine
and a whole bunch of other steel stuff we had just cluttering
up our bull pasture.)
(I had a bunch of flowers grown, lilies are my favorites)
(I did lots of riding, mostly on Jessie and Bailey but a few rides on Kali as well, cause
I really wanted to sell some horses (another post altogether)
Rode a few times at night even under the harvest moon)
(Did a bunch of touring around, both with family and Neil and by myself, the little church in Drum and the vine covered dino and the new one on the scooter, this guy made me laugh he looked at him from all directions)
(Jessie was at the trainer for a while and then we went to a show and it was much better, I did not feel defeated at the end of the show at least.)
All In All it was a pretty cool summer and even though everything I wanted to get done did not get done, I am happy with all I did. But am so not ready for winter to come, I am already cold and don't wanna be this way for another 6 months. This week I am up at the Supreme in Red Deer most of the week, got some pics from Monday and Tuesday but will save them for a whole post. Pretty excited to meet up with Shirley and Sherry there too.
