Sunday Stills -- New beginnings

This week our challenge was to get new beginnings, flower buds, calves, or real babies.  Well we have lots of calves out here (35 so far I think)  but I haven't gotten any real good pics of them so I went with a baby horsey. Probly not as cute as Shirley's, but cute none the less.  And much smaller.

He belongs to my friend and was born on March 27.  The mare is really nice quiet horse that she was riding and the baby was unplanned and unwanted.  She had never planned to breed this mare didn't really ever want to breed. And she never really liked the stallion either.  But it happened last spring somehow where she was boarding and now she has a foal and no horse to ride this summer.
But not the foals fault and he is adorable :)  Of course aren't all babies?  She has been calling him Cruisin Joe and he is quite a character.  Not afraid of humans at all, quite the opposite really.  He wants to play all the time.  He comes at you and doesn't back down.   I think he could easily grow on a person, but I know she doesn't want him so he will find a new home this summer.  Kinda makes me sad there are no foals around here this year too.

Check out Sunday Stills for more new beginnings.

You can't be too careful with mares and stallions, and not all stallion owners are responsible type people, sad to say. Little Cruising Joe should make someone happy though. His face marking looks like a kite.

Not nice that the barn didn't make sure there were no "accidental" breedings - I'd be pretty upset if that happened to my mare (who's too old for a first baby anyway). But at lease the little guy looks good!

Oooh! That little colt is so adorable! Looks healthy and strong, too. Beautiful mare and must have been a pretty nice stallion to produce him.
She should still be able to ride her mare..just have the baby tag along. He won't go far and it will be good experience for him and make him more sell-able, too.
There was a gal who competed her mare for America's Favorite Trail Horse and brought her mare's several month old colt along, too. She did all of the tests and did the entire course with the baby just tagging along. She earned major cute points for her performance by having the baby along, too. lol!
