Trail Riding

Well I rode the Gypsy today.  She was as good as or better than I though she should be.  I sure am loving the older horses.  I never had much to do with them before her, but I liked her all winter and now I have rode her I like her even more.  We rode in the arena first because I just didnt know,  and after walking and trotting both directions, we went out the door and rode through the pasture.  The other mares were out there and she was fine, she called a couple times, but never got upset or tried anything, just did as I asked.  I figured she should be good, but...

Razz on the other hand is still having a fit when Gypsy gets out of her sight.  So I been doing that lots.  I take Gypsy out of the pen and bush and feed her.  then I take Razz out and shes all excited then I tie her as far from Gypsy as possible.  Then I take gypsy into the barn and Razz is all upset again, but then I  bring Razz in the barn when she relaxes.  I am pretty sure she wil calm down soon enough, last fall she was kinda like that for a while too, then she gets in the routine and settles.  She is only 4, and hasn't done anything but be with friends since March, so I can kinda understand its a big adjustment for her.

Since I never knew Gypsy was gonna be so good, I rode Dot out with Lu down to the coulee and we just sauntered and it was fun and relazing.  I really enjoyed it, not having to worry about what's going on and just riding.  I think I saw a moose again, but it didn't move, so not sure if it was or not.

The slough is pretty neat looking, it looks like its higher than the gound (which I know its not) but still kinda cool.  My camera batteries died like five minutes into the ride, so the ear cam is from my phone.

I cant wait to ride Gypsy again, but it might be a few days, cause Thursday, we are taking our cows from the community pasture home, and Firday moving the neighbors cows and Saturday our cows will probly come home from Stettler, so maybe Sunday unless Im too tired by then.

Looks like you had a good ride, and looks like you are going to be busy for the next couple of days! I like the older horses, too old for the young ones, but I can't give up my youngster either;)

Mmmmh and I thought you might have time to come to our house for some more moving cows but you are so busy already, I won't ask. Well we're getting things done, just plugging away at it. Glad Gypsy is so good. A certain cowboy I know really likes her and he has pretty good taste so maybe I'm not surprised.
